Christine Webb
Christine Webb was born and raised in the shadow of Mt. Rainer in Washington State, and spent much of her childhood drawing. This turned into an obsession in high school, where she was elected president of her schools Art Honors Society, winning many National Merit Art Scholar awards for both sculpture and drawing. She then went on to study on a full scholarship at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she refined her skills and technique. Through the years Christine has also held several professional positions in the art field, such as Art Director at an illustration company and Sales Coordinator at a print company.
She developed a creative schedule which was almost completely nocturnal, producing her best work at night. A pattern or personal set of mandalas began to develop. Starting in 1999, when she attended her first psychedelic trance party, she sat down and completed O.M. (Operation Mind meld) in 6 hours. This was unlike any of her more traditional pieces; it was bold, symmetrical, and full of organic shapes and sacred geometry. Concentrating on this theme in newer work, the colors and vibrations seemed to flow with infinite ease onto the paper.
'Transcending Abyss of Hyperspace' was the next completed project, developing this same vision. After showing these to a DJ friend that introduced her to the psychedelic experience, she was commissioned to do the promotional art for the Phoenix Festival, the drawing 'Phoenix Rising' was the result.
Early in the millennium, Christine was drawn to the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains in California. After attending many of the local outdoor parties & spending more time in nature, her paintings began to take a more organic turn, drawing from the shapes, patterns and colors that surrounded her. Her current projects include various cd covers for record labels in San Francisco, paintings, and sculpture. She uses traditional mediums; oil, pastel, prismacolor marker & colored pencil and watercolors.
